When I was 14-years-old I received one of my most memorable pieces of advice when reading a book.
For a Christmas gift I was given "The Barefoot Investor" by Scott Pape that I really enjoyed reading.
One piece of advice that really stuck with me was: ‘have a Mojo account, so that you have money on hand in order to be in control of your financial decisions.
A mojo-account is a high-interest online bank account that doesn’t have a card attached to it. It’s a great way to save money and as Scott says ‘keep a spring or mojo in your step’.
I use this now personally to ensure my family and I have money set aside in case any unexpected situation arises. This helps us feel ahead and in control. I also share this with clients and show them my budget so they can see how I personally control my finances and the benefits of doing so.
Well, today I am the Branch Principal with Yellow Brick Road Kirwan based in Townsville, the second capital of Queensland! I haven't forget the advice and still refer my customers to Scott's book.
